Suspected driver in triple fatal drunk

NORRIDGEWOCK — The suspected driver of a pickup truck that crashed and killed three men had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his bloodstream, authorities said.

Jeremy Ecker’s blood-alcohol content was 0.19 percent, compared to the legal limit of 0.08 percent, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Police believe Ecker, 18, of Norridgewock was driving a pickup that crashed about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Norridgewock. Ecker and Wayne Courtney and David Luce, both 19, also of Norridgewock, were thrown from the truck and died instantly.

McCausland said the truck was registered to Ecker and that Ecker was the only one of the three young men with a driver’s license.
