LA CROSSE, Wis. – Former University of Maine quarterback Mike Buck will get the starting slot in the Saints quarterback rotation Saturday against the Green Bay Packers, coach Jim Mora said Friday.

Buck will play about a quarter and a half. Then Steve Walsh will take over for a quarter and a half with Wade Wilson playing most of the rest of the game, although Mora would like to get Kevin Verdugo, his other quarterback in camp, in for awhile if he can.

Mora has also been even-handed with the starting assignments. Wilson started the first exhibition game and Walsh the second.

Mora once again called the three-way race for the starting job too close to call a week before training camp ends.

“I think it’s pretty level right now; all of them are doing a good job,” Mora said.
