PORTLAND – Former University of Maine hockey players Vince Guidotti and Martin Robitaille were among four players from the Portland Pirates rookie camp to receive invitations to the team’s training camp in September.
Will Averill of Wayland, Mass., and Tim Sullivan of Woburn, Mass., also were invited. The Pirates are the minor league affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Washington Capitals.
Former University of Southern Maine goalie Dan Smith of Bangor was invited to the Nashville Knights’ (East Coast Hockey League) training camp.
