Beaulieu’s goal lifts Van Buren to victory

VAN BUREN – Ryan Beaulieu scored on a Sean Parent assist in overtime Wednesday to give the hosts a 3-2 win over Houlton in the schoolboy soccer opener for both clubs.

Corey Searles and Bill Doucette each scored unassisted goals for the Crusaders, while goalkeeper Todd Ayotte made 15 saves on 24 shots.

Matt Johnson and Joey Sacoby had the goals for Houlton while keeper Jeff Hanscom made eight saves.

CAHS 2, Wisdom 1

At St. Agatha, Randy Libby’s throw-in deflected off a Wisdom player and into the goal to give Central Aroostook an overtime win over host Wisdom.

Matt Townsend scored the other goal for the 1-0 Panthers and goalie Steve Boyd made four saves on shots.

Jamie Guerrette scored an unassisted goal for the 1-1 Pioneers. Tony Aldrete made 18 saves on 32 shots.

Ashland 4, Washburn 0

At Washburn, Andrew Sjogren scored two goals to lead Ashland past the host Beavers.

James Jordan and Kris Condon scored the other goals for the 1-0 Hornets, while Ryan Caron and Kris Lafontaine added assists. Deane Rafford made 14 saves.

For 0-2 Washburn, Jon Maynard made 13 saves on 28 Ashland shots.

Girls Soccer

Ashland 2, Washburn 0

ASHLAND – Alicia Michaud turned away nine shots and earned the shutout as the host Hornets downed Washburn 2-0 in schoolgirl action Wednesday.

Celeste Michaud scored on a Jennifer Carney assist in the first half for 1-0 Ashland and Kristy Paradis tallied on a direct kick in the second.

Shannon Hyuthaine made 10 saves on 21 shots for 0-1-1 Washburn.

CAHS 2, Wisdom 1

At St. Agatha, Emily Lalone’s second-half goal led Central Aroostook past host Wisdom. Rhonda Libby tallied the other goal for the 1-0 Panthers.

Jennifer Sirois converted a Danielle Lavertu assist for 0-1-1 Wisdom.
