Adult education programs slated

HOULTON — Registrations for adult education programs in the southern Aroostook County area are being accepted.

Classes will begin the week of Sept. 6 at East Grand High School in Danforth, Houlton High School, Hodgdon High School, Southern Aroostook Community High School in Dyer Brook and Katahdin High School in Sherman Station. Registrations will be accepted through the first week of classes.

Area directors are: Rhonda Irish, East Grand, 448-2260; Karen Rochford, Hodgdon, 532-9390; Ervin MacDonald, Houlton, 532-6554; Janet Moore, SACHS, 757-8206; and Rowena Harvey, Katahdin, 365-4284.

Area residents age 17 and older who are not enrolled in a public school may register in person or by telephone at any of the five schools. The programs range from literacy and high school completion to vocational training, computers and associate degree courses from Northern Maine Technical College.

Interactive television courses also are available at East Grand, Hodgdon, SACHS and Katahdin, and at the Houlton Center of the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
