Area golf courses have seen a run of holes-in-one recently, with two aces each at Bangor Municipal Golf Course and Pine Hill Golf Course in Brewer, and one at Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono.
At PVCC, Alan Schiro of Bangor made his first hole-in-one Sunday. Schiro aced the 143-yard fourth hole with a 7-iron. The feat was witnessed by Nick Fox, Kevin Kenny and Paul Nelligan.
At Bangor Muni, Vivian Townsend recorded her second career ace Sunday on the 115-yard sixth hole. She used a 4-iron. The shot was witnessed by Viola Webb, Cheryl Paulson and Karen Feeney.
On the same day, Ronald Ward aced Muni’s 159-yard 16th hole with a seven-iron. His shot was witnessed by Phil Ward, Romeo Scagliariniand Jean Grondin.
And at Pine Hill, Mike French of Orrington aced the 115-yard 14th hole (the fifth hole with different tee markers for the second time around) Aug. 18, then witnessed another Pine Hill ace three days later.
French used a pitching wedge for his hole-in-one, which was witnessed by Harry Hershall and Bill Gagner.
On Saturday, French watched playing partner Bud Gray of Orrington knock an 8-iron into the cup on the 165-yard ninth hole. Also witnessing the feat was Ron Moody.
