Town offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of Labor Day.

Residents may bring recyclable glass, paper and metal products to the Old Town Recycling Center at the transfer center off Gilman Falls Avenue from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays.

Town office hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays.

Dog licenses are due for 1993. Be sure to have verification certificates for rabies and spaying or neutering records.

Bradford

The code enforcement officer will be at the town hall from 2 to 6 p.m. each Monday, and from 8 a.m. to noon each Wednesday.

Bradley

Carmel

The Hermon High School Booster Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, in the high school library. Parents and friends of Hermon High students are welcome to attend.

A smorgasboard supper will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Carmel Union Church. Admission is adults, $5; children under 12, $2.50.

Eddington

Fire permits may be obtained from the town office. Fire permits will be issued from the fire department by calling 843-5608 or 843-7461. The town office can issue fire permits only for the day of the burn, and the burning cannot begin until 5 p.m.

Returnable cans and bottles may be taken to the Town Store on Route 9. People may request that deposits be donated to the Eddington School for field trips for the next school year.

A free weekend at the landfill will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Sunday, Sept. 3 and 5. A permit to enter the landfill may be obtained at the office.

Boy Scout Troop 25 will hold a bottle drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. Bottles and cans should be placed outside of doors. Proceeds will go towards the cost of campouts.

Positions on the recycling committee are available.

Three members of the public are needed to serve on a committee to study the necessity of having a full-time fire chief.

Selectmen remind residents that building permits are required for buildings 100 square feet or larger, as well as for decks.

Orrington

Selectmen will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the town hall.

Soccer sign-up for grades k-7 will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 7 and 8, in the library at the Center Drive School. Late sign-ups will be charge $10. Parents interested in coaching may attend training on Monday and Wednesday, Sept. 13 and 15.

The civil emergency preparation committee will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the town hall to review the final draft of the civil emergency preparation plan.
