CAMDEN — Larry Howerton, an educator specializing in adult education and counseling, will begin the first in a series of free career management seminars on adult life stages at the Camden Health Care Center. The seminars will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. each Tuesday beginning Sept. 7.
The discussion will focus on transitions people face with maturity and moving forward on a career path.
The career counseling program has been held for the past three years and is sponsored by Camden Adult Education with the assistance of federal grant funds. The seminars are open to any person seeking job-skills training, employment counseling or contemplating a career change. Howerton holds a master’s degree in counseling and has taught adult education and GED courses at SAD 28 since 1989.
The following topics will be covered on successive Tuesdays: values clarification; achieving balance; assessing interests; assessing skills; occupational planning; personal finance; confidence building; networking; setting goals; making decisions; hunting for a job; writing a resume; job interviews; holding a job; assertiveness training; breaking life/career barriers; and closure.
You may attend any or all of the seminars. Registration is not necessary. Individual counseling is also available at no cost, by appointment, on Monday afternoon. For more information, contact the SAD 28 Adult Education office at 236-7802.
