AUGUSTA — The Kennebec Water Power Co. will release water from Flagstaff Dam into the Lower Dead River on two occasions this fall: a 3,500-cubic-foot-per-second release will be done Sunday, Sept. 19, and 5,500 cfs Sunday, Oct. 10.

The 16-mile stretch of white water on the Dead River provides the longest continuous length of Class IV rapids in the East.
