Schoolboy soccer

Ryan Mahar scored one goal and assisted on another to lead the Bangor High School Rams to a 3-1 schoolboy soccer victory over the Caribou Vikings at Union Street Field in Bangor on Saturday.

Tony Caristi and Matt Cook also had goals for the Rams. Goalkeeper Tim Wright had seven saves on 16 shots.

For the Vikings, Eric Salminen scored the goal off a Kenny Lund assist. Chris Funk had 13 saves on 16 shots.

Schenck 2, Penquis 0

At East Millinocket, Darren Stanley made nine saves on 12 shots to lead the host Wolverines to the shutout win over Penquis of Milo.

Tommy Jamo (from Greg Currier) and Tony Turcotte scored the goals for the 4-2 winners.

Penquis, 2-2-1, was led by Adam Harmon, who had 14 saves on 24 shots.

Central 1, Dexter 0

At East Corinth, Willy Rivera scored the only goal of the game off a Craig Morrison pass for 2-1-2 Central. Goalie Chris Horn had 11 saves on 19 shots for the Red Devils.

Goalie Aaron Sargent had 10 saves on 21 shots for 1-1-3 Dexter.

Woodland 1, Houlton 0

At Houlton, John Bell scored an unassisted goal with 9:00 minutes left in the game for Woodland, a goal whicn proved to be the game-winner.

Nate Martell had 15 saves on 17 shots for 6-0 Woodland .

Kevin Burleigh had 15 saves on 17 shots for 3-7-2 Houlton.
