Wishart’s two shutouts lead Husson to weekend sweep

College Soccer

Husson College goalkeeper Jim Wishart recorded a pair of shutouts to lead the Braves to a weekend sweep of St. Joseph’s College and Notre Dame College in men’s college soccer action.

On Sunday, Wishart made four saves on seven shots to lead the Braves to a 3-0 win over NDC. On Saturday, Wishart stopped four of six shots as Husson posted a 4-0 win over St. Joe’s.

Husson is now 4-0 on the season.

On Sunday, Adam Heaslewood scored two goals to lift Husson. Guy Guy Myepe had the other goal while Matt Stelzer and Gary Thompson had assists.

Goalkeeper Sean Patel made five saves on 22 shots for 2-1 NDC.

Thompson had a goal and an assist in Saturday’s win over the Monks. Heaslewood, Myepe, and Jake Dragutinovic added the other goals.

Goalkeeper Shawn Beauregard had eight saves on 25 shots for 0-2 St. Joe’s.

UMFK 4, UMM 2

At Fork Kent, Blake Lindstedt scored all four University of Maine-Fort Kent goals to lead the Bengals to the win over the University of Maine-Machias.

Brian Kane, Scott Richardson, and Chuck Michaud recorded the assists for the 3-4 winners. Goalkeeper Nathan Guy made 11 saves on 20 shots.

Theo Poulis (from Jake Pierce) and Keith Williams had the goals for the Clippers, now 0-3. Goalkeepers Mike Gagnon and Scott Douglas combined to make 17 saves on 42 shots.

MMA 2, Nyack 2 (OT)

At Husson College in Bangor, V.C. Voyou had both goals for Maine Maritime Academy, which battled to a tie with Nyack (N.Y.) College.

Tom Savage and Henry Gaypia each had assists for 3-2-1 Maine Maritime. Goalie Brendan Delbos had 10 saves on 12 shots.

Dwayne Smith had an unassisted goal for Nyack. The other Nyack goal came from a Maine Maritime player who kicked the ball into his own goal. Goalie Adam Thomas had 12 saves on 27 shots.

UMPI 5, UMM 0

At Presque Isle, Darren Clukey had three goals to help take UM-Presque Isle to the win.

Brooks King had a goal and an assit. John Corlett also scored for 5-1 UMPI. Jay Moody had two assists and Kevin Hamel had an assist to round out the scoring. Goalies Jason Pangburn and Dave Clang combined for six saves on seven shots.

Goalies Mike Gagon and Scott Douglas combined for 16 saves on 24 shots for 0-2 UM-Machias.

Unity, Daniel Webster tie

At Nashua, N.H., Goalie Rick Dreves had 12 saves on 19 shots for 0-4-1 Unity College as the Rams tied Daniel Webster.

Goalkeeper Chad Sessalman recorded seven saves on 11 shots for Daniel Webster.

NMTC 3, New Brunswick CC 2

At Presque Isle, Scott Gendreau had a goal off a Walter Qualey pass with four minutes left in the second overtime to win the game for Northern Maine Tech.

Genderau also scored a goal in regulation for 4-1 Northern Maine Tech. Chris Ferguson also had a goal to round out the scoring. Goalkeeper Steve Thibodeau had 11 saves on 22 shots.

Todd Chener had both goals for 0-2 New Brunswick Community College. Goalie Cuff Marr had 23 saves on 41 shots.

Women’s Soccer

UMaine, Harvard tie

At Orono, the University of Maine women’s soccer team peppered Harvard University goalkeeper Brook Donahoe with 26 shots, but could not score as the two teams battled to a 0-0 tie here Sunday.

Donahoe made 20 saves as the Crimson moved to 1-0-1 on the season.

For Maine, goalkeeper Allison Snooks made 14 saves before being lifted for backup goalkeeper Kim Watson, who made no saves. Harvard had 17 shots.

U-New England 2, Husson 0

At Bangor, Stacey Demarais and Danielle Derosier scored goals to lift the University of New England Red Knights to the victory.

Sara Semone added an assist on Demarais’ goal for the 4-0 Knights of Biddeford. Goalkeeper Allison Morrissey stopped all three shots she faced for UNE.

Husson goalkeeper April Wallace made eight saves on 12 shots as the Braves slipped to 1-1-1.

Georgian Court 4, St. Joe’s 0

At Standish, goalkeeper Stacey Ryan stopped all seven shots as Georgian Court recorded the shutout of the host Monks.

Tina Dellapiertro and Sue Malysa each scored two goals for the winners, now 3-0.

Goalkeeper Karen Rogers made 16 saves on 20 shots for St. Joe’s, 2-2.
