The Brewer Witches broke open the game with five second-half goals to beat the Old Town Indians 7-1 in schoolboy soccer action at the Pendleton Street Field in Brewer Friday.

The Witches led 2-1 at the half.

Brian Colman paced 7-1-1 Brewer with three goals, while Ryan Ellingson, Casey Carter, Matt Enman and Chris Murphy had a goal apiece.

Jerry Soares added two assists for the winners. Mason Johnston, Jeremy Hersom, Scott Weiser, Darren Beers and Chris Roeder assisted on one goal each. Josh Dennis and John Thomas combined to make two saves on four shots.

Jeremiah Stone scored on a Brian Osgood assist for the 1-8 Indians. Josh Mitchell made 11 saves on 26 shots.

Woodland 1, Calais 0

At Calais, the Dragons scored a fluke goal with about 1:30 left in the second overtime period to defeat the Blue Devils.

John Bell was credited with the tally when a clearing kick from the midfield area bounced into the net.

A Calais defender went to control the ball about 18 yards in front of the net, but slipped and it bounced off the back of his head and over Calais goalie Matt Raye as Raye had come out to play the ball, also.

Nate Martell made 10 saves on 21 shots for Woodland, now 7-1, and Raye stopped 21 of 22 shots for 4-4 Calais.

Machias 1, Jones.-Beals 0

At Machias, Aaron Coffin scored on a penalty kick with 13:16 left in the first half, lifting Machias to the win.

Goalie Tim Manchester made nine saves against as many shots for Machias (5-2-1).

For Jonesport-Beals, 6-2-1, goalie Wayne Dube made eight saves, facing nine shots.

George Stevens 4, Sumner 1

At East Sullivan, Scott Murphy scored two goals and assisted on another, powering George Stevens of Blue Hill to its eighth win against two losses and a tie.

Chris Newman added a goal and an assist for the Eagles, while Adam Grey scored a goal. Jerry Grey and James Rankin contributed assists. Goalie J.T. Loomis made six saves, facing 14 shots.

For Sumner, 4-7, Jesse Grosjean scored off a Carl Grosjean assist. Mike Bills made 11 saves, facing 15 shots on net.

WA Raiders 1, ‘Guagus 0

At Harrington, Oliver Hufner scored an unassisted goal with 10:06 to go in the game on a long kick from 35 yards out to give Washington Academy of East Machias the win over host Narraguagus.

Keegan Beal saved 10 of 16 shots for the 5-3 Knights.

Katahdin 6, Ashland 3

At Sherman Station, Walter Anderson’s hat trick led the host Katahdin Cougars to the win.

For the 9-1 Cougars, Tagg Leduc scored twice and Nate Richardson added a goal and two assists. Garrett Duffy made 10 saves on 17 shots.

Andrew Sjogren had two goals and an assist for the 6-2-1 Hornets. Chris Condon had a goal and an assist. Duane Rafford had 17 saves on 32 shots.

Orono 1, MDI 0

At Mount Desert, Evan Stinson’s goal off a header with three minutes left in the first period held up, as the Red Riots improved to 8-2.

Goalie Mark Thibodeau made eight saves for Orono, facing 10 shots.

For MDI, 6-3, goalie Pat Lewis made six saves on eight shots.

Ellsworth 4, Hermon 1

At Hermon, the Eagles improved their perfect record to 9-0 behind the two goal, one assist performance of Steve Perry.

Lasse Tolstrop added a goal and an assist while Travis Coffin scored a goal. Mark Hellum made three stops on six shots.

Joey Oxley scored an unassisted goal for the 4-4-1 Hawks. Justin Shaw made 16 saves on 22 shots.

Bucksport 2, Searsport 1

At Bucksport, the Golden Bucks parlayed a late goal by Greg Gobel into their first win of the year.

Gobel put a Dirk Smith assist into the back of the net with nine minutes left in the game to help Bucksport improve to 1-9-1.

Phil Saunders staked the Bucks to a lead with a first-half goal off a Rick Gray feed. David Winchester made 12 saves on 18 shots.

Mike Solovie scored with 33 minutes left in the game to knot the game for 3-6 Searsport. Jason Krinke made 15 saves on 23 shots.

Winslow 3, Medomak 2

At Waldoboro, Charlie Brown’s goal off a Jake Roderique assist at 27:19 of the second half broke a 2-2 tie and carried the Black Raiders to the win.

Roderique added an unassisted goal for Winslow (7-2-1), while Alex Lefferts scored off a Tim Baird assist. Jay McDonald made 21 saves in net, facing 27 shots.

For Medomak Valley, 4-6, Greg Miller scored unassisted and assisted on a goal by Tim Spear. Luke Wooster made eight saves in net, facing 11 shots. Medomak had nine corner kicks to Winslow’s one.

Belfast 7, Rockland 0

At Belfast, Jon Holmes scored two goals and assisted on three others as the Lions rolled to their sixth win against three losses and a tie.

Other goals for Belfast were scored by: Cliff Littlefield, Mike Hatch, Thatcher White, Earl Macomb, and Carl Savitz. Goalie Bill Munkelt made four saves, facing seven shots.

For Rockland, 0-8-1, goalie T.C. Costa made 13 saves, facing 30 shots.
