Schoolboy soccer
MOUNT DESERT – Conrad Smith and Garric Worcester scored unassisted goals to lead Mount Desert Island to a 2-1 schoolboy soccer win over Hermon Monday.
Both scores came in the first half, and the Trojans held on for the win. Pat Lewis made seven saves on nine shots for 7-3 MDI.
Adam Moir scored on a Brett Stuber assist in the second half for 4-5-1 Hermon. Justin Shaw made 10 saves on 16 shots.
Penquis 2, Central 1
At East Corinth, Andrew Hoyle scored both goals to lead Penquis Valley of Milo to victory.
Hoyle’s goals were both unassisted for the winners, now 4-3-3. He scored his first with 1:14 left in the first half and the second with 38:45 on the clock.
Darren Conolly scored the lone Central goal unassisted with 12 minutes remaining in the first half.
In goal, Adam Harmen made five saves on eight shots for Penquis, while Chris Horn had 15 saves on 20 shots for the 3-3-3 Red Devils.
