College soccer
WATERVILLE – Ellie Stewart scored an unassisted goal with 2:25 remaining in overtime, her second of the game, to give Bowdoin College a 3-2 women’s soccer win over Colby Wednesday.
Katie Doughty had the other goal for Bowdoin, 6-2, and goalie Moya Gibson made 10 saves.
Jen Lawrence and Megan Fitzpatrick scored for Colby, 5-2-1. Brooke Porteous had an assist on Fitzpatrick’s goal, which tied it with five minutes left in regulation. Erika Moore made 17 saves for Colby.
St. Joe’s 2, UMF 0
At Standish, Neile Joler scored both goals, one in each half, as the host Monks handed the Beavers of the University of Maine-Farmington their first setback of the season.
For the 7-3-1 winners, Kelly Wood recorded an assist while Karen Rogers had five saves on eight shots.
Kristen Overton made 19 saves on 30 shots for UMF, 6-1-2.
Plymouth State 5, USM 0
At Gorham, Shannon Veno booted home two goals to help Plymouth State roll past the University of Southern Maine.
Randy Jennings, Mary Bridget Pawlick, and Stacy Freda each added a goal for the 6-0-1 winners. Goalie Sarah Seagrave made two saves on three shots.
For USM, now 1-9-1, goalie Jen Poliquin made seven saves on 19 shots.
