Toymaker pleads guilty in sex case

AUBURN — A toy manufacturer who proposed the establishment of a foster home complex to be known as Children’s Castle has pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual contact involving a girl under the age of 14.

Malcolm Sibulkin, 65, of Avon, the owner of Lauri Inc. and a former school board member, entered his plea by information Friday in Androscoggin County Superior Court.

The Class C offense is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. No sentencing date was set.

The complex Sibulkin proposed in 1990 for the Avon-Phillips area ran into local opposition and stalled for lack of funding.
