Brownville board eyes road closures > Public comment to be heard Oct. 26

BROWNVILLE — There will be a public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the town office to consider closing five roads from November to April.

This would free the town from having to provide winter maintenance of the roads.

The selectmen have the authority to do this through Title 23 MSRA S. 2953.

The roads being considered for closure are:

A portion of Quarry Avenue in the village, from the end of the graveled portion of the road to the Williamsburg Township line.

The road off Stickney Hill leading south to the property of Frank and Helen Barberri, located at Map 1, Lot 106.

The portion of the old Knight’s Landing Road from the southwest corner of property owned by James and Judy Paulaskas, Map 6, Lot 13, to the Canadian Pacific Railroad tracks.

The portion of Spencer Road from the property of Henry and Jacqueline Roy, Map 5, Lot 12-13, to the end of the existing town way.

The Pinetree and Village Cemetery roadways will be closed to any and all motorized vehicles when snow is on the ground or when spring thaw makes the roads impassable.

All Brownville residents may present their views on the proposed closures to the selectmen at the hearing, which will be held prior to the regular selectmen’s meeting. Selectmen will reach a decision on the propsals at the meeting, based on citizen comments.
