WATERVILLE – Adam Heaslewood scored two goals to carry the Husson College Braves past the Thomas College Terriers in men’s soccer action Saturday.

Peter Luciano and Guy Guy Mpeye each had an assist for the 10-5 Braves of Bangor. Goalie Jim Wishart had six saves on seven shots.

Goalie Tim Chalmers had three saves on eight shots for Thomas.

St. Joseph’s 3, UMFK 1

At Fort Kent, second-half goals by Kevin Partridge and Mike Smith carried St. Joseph’s to its first win after 12 defeats.

Goalie Scott Beaureguard blocked seven of eight shots on goal to preserve the victory.

Scott Richardson, helped by John Mattola, scored the only goal for UMFK, now 9-9. Goalie Nathan Guy stopped 17 of 27 shots.

UMPI 4, St Joesph’s 1

At Presque Isle, Darren Clukey had both goals to lift the University of Maine-Presque Isle to the victory.

John Corlett had an assist on the Clukey goal that came with 4:30 left in the second half. Goalies Jason Pangburn and Joey Ouelette combined for four saves on six shots for the 11-2 Owls.

Shawn Brennan scored off a pass from Matt Mattson 7:30 into the game for 1-12 St Joe’s of Standish. Goalie Shawn Beaureguard had 19 saves on 26 shots.

UNH 2, Maine 1

At Orono, Mike Veneto scored off an Aaron Porter pass at the 71:50 mark in the second half to help lift New Hampshire to the victory.

Ryan Leib scored off a Dave Kurzontowski pass at the 84:23 mark in the second half. Goalie Steve Bacari had seven saves on 13 shots for the 11-3 Wildcats.

Jake Ouimet had the only Black Bear goal at the 52:44 mark in the second half. Goalie Seb D’Appolonia had six saves on 15 shots for 5-7-1 Maine.

Bowdoin 4, Trinity 3

At Hartford, Conn., Justin Schuetz had a goal and two assists to carry Bowdoin to the victory.

Andrew Johnston and Jon Jacobs both had goals in the second half. Dave Rodriguez scored the opening goal for 4-7-1 Bowdoin off a pass from Rick Toohtaker. Goalie Ted Hall had four saves on six shots.

Mark Salafia scored an unassisted goal for Trinity at the 46:58 mark in the second. Tim Yates and Paulo Rodriguez rounded out the scoring for 5-6 Trinity. Goalie Arimin Afsar-Keshmiri had three saves on eight saves.

Women’s Soccer

Maine ties, loses

Army beat the University of Maine on Saturday 4-1 and the Bears salvaged a 0-0 tie against Rhode Island on Sunday.

At West Point, N.Y., on Saturday, Alexis Albano scored three goals, leading Army to the victory.

Kate Pendry also scored for Army, which ups its record to 17-0-1. Annah Casellini and Anne Robinson made six saves on 8 Maine shots.

For Maine, Erica Labb scored off a Christina Contardo assist and Allison Snooks stopped 11 of Army’s 17 shots.

At Kingston, R.I., on Sunday, goalie Snooks had five saves on six shots for 2-11-3 Maine. Goalie Jen Ernst had four saves on eight shots for URI.

UMPI 2, St. Joseph’s 2(2OT)

At Standish, Stori Shaw and Kelly Picard came back with second-half goals to help the University of Maine-Presque Isle battle back for the tie.

Shaw scored off a Picard pass and Picard converted an Andie Sponberg pass. Goalie Michelle Davis made six saves on eight shots.

St. Joe’s scored both of its goals in the first half when Kelly Wood booted home a penalty kick and Terry Kobel scored off a Deb Penta pass. Goalie Karen Rogers made nine saves on 11 shots.
