Attention, Brewer residents. this is how your City Council responds to its citizens’ concerns:
At council meetings June 8 and July 13, we the citizens of Pine Tree and Wiswell roads, asked what the city planned to do to adjust our property values once sludge is spread. It is now October and the city has yet to respond to us.
Real estate appraisers we have asked and will tell you that our lifetime investment will diminish. Real estate brokers are required by law to tell potential buyers, “Sludge is being spread in the area.” This statement will limit the potential number of interested buyers.
Not one taxpayer here wants sludge spread, yet we feel that the city feels it can force it down our throats and save a little money. We, as taxpayers of Brewer, demand that the city assure us in writing that our valuations will be adjusted and that the city will take care of us.
We also asked at the July 13 meeting what scientific reports the city used to reach its decision that sludge is not harmful. We have yet to receive these from the city.
