Betty Mitchell, head of the fall campaign for the United Way of Penobscot Valley, announced Wednesday that $1,409,791, or 86 percent, of this year’s $1.64 million goal has been received.
Scores of volunteers heard the announcement at an event termed a victory celebration at the Holiday Inn on Main Street.
Mitchell termed the campaign a success and said more than 103 workplaces reported increases in employee giving.
A few campaigns have not concluded activities, and Mitchell urged all donors to “join the 11,350 who already have.”
“This is a great team effort that involves nearly 1,000 volunteers every year,” Mitchell said. She expressed thanks to all campaign volunteers from division leaders, team leaders and account executives to employee campaign managers, agency speakers and United Way staff.
