Alton

The selectmen meet at the municipal building every second and fourth Monday of the month.

Residents may bring recyclable glass, paper and metal products to the Old Town Recycling Center at the transfer center off Gilman Falls Avenue from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays.

Town office hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays.

Bradford

Cub Scouts meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Monday at the town hall.

The code enforcement officer will be at the town hall from 2 to 6 p.m. each Monday, and from 8 a.m. to noon each Wednesday.

Bradley

The Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the town office.

Carmel

The selectmen are planning a public hearing tonight (Dec. 1) to discuss issues relating to the constable-deputy program.

Project Graduation for the Class of 1994 will hold a Christmas auction from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. To donate goods or for information, call Sharon at 848-3558.

The Carmel PTC Club and Carmel-Etna Head Start will hold a penny raffle at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Carmel Elementary School. There will be a Santa, surprises and refreshments available. Donations accepted.

There will be Christmas tree-lighting on the Simpson Memorial Library lawn at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5. Christmas carols will be sung and refreshments will be available. Everyone is welcome.

Carmel Cub Scout Pack 18 will sell Christmas trees and wreathes at Carmel Video on Route 2, and Dick’s Mini-Mart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5; Saturday and Sunday Dec. 11 and 12; and Sunday, Dec. 19. The Clifton United Baptist Church will hold its annual Christmas craft fair from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. There will be handmade crafts, wreathes, plants, homemade foods, kids corner and more.

Corinth

The Planning Board will meet at 7:30 tonight Dec. 1, at the town office. Starting today, new hours for the code enforcement officer will be 4 to 6 p.m. every Wednesday at the town office.

The Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Pennyroyal Farm, home of Bea and Cliff Lowden, Marsh Road. Officers will be elected.

The Historical Society will meet at 9:30 this morning at the municipal building. A discussion of charitable Christmas projects will be discussed, with a restaurant luncheon to follow.

The Hampden Food Cupboard will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. every Wednesday at the Kiwanis Center.

The Dyer Library will hold toddler story time for children under age 3 with an adult at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays. It will include short stories, puppets, fingerplays and flannel-board stories.

The Dyer Library will hold preschool story time for children ages 3-5 at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, with the same program repeated Wednesdays. It will include stories, songs, fingerplays, flannel-board stories and a crafts project. Anyone who would like to share special skills, talents or hobbies as part of a library program may talk with any staff member.

Hermon

The Hermon Town Office is accepting donations for the needy. Donations may include: canned goods, stuffing, cranberry sauce, cake/frosting mixes, gravy, candy, money to buy perishables, etc. Donations should be brought to the town office before Dec. 15. Holden

The Planning Board will meet at 7 tonight at the municipal building.

Polls will be open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the Holden Elementary School for a special election to fill a vacancy on the Board of Selectmen. Candidates for a three-year term include: Thomas W. Kohlmeyer, Galen H. Knowles and Ralph E. McLeod.

Campbell Soup labels may be mailed to the Holden School, 1500 Main Road, East Holden, 04429. Labels will go toward free equipment for the school.

New hours for General Assistance, other than for emergency cases which are taken any day, will be from 1 to 2 p.m. each Thursday.

Hudson

The selectmen will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the town hall.

The fire department will host a birthday party for Smokey Bear from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. Cake, soda and coffee will be served.

Beano will be held every Tuesday at the Pushaw Lake Snowmobile Club. Early bird special begins at 6 p.m. and beano at 7 p.m.

Kenduskeag

Orono

There is a vacancy on the zoning board of appeals. Applications are available at the town office.

Winterport

The Recreation Committee is looking for members, and is currently searching for a coordinator and coaches for youth and men’s basketball. Anyone interested may contact Frank Drummond at 223-5959.

The Winterport Historical Association will meet in its building at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6. A potluck supper and sharing of Christmas memories will be the program.
