Town offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, for the holiday, except where otherwise noted.

The Square and Compass Club will sponsor a public baked bean supper 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Carmel Masonic Hall. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for children under 10.
Tax liens from 1991 must be paid before Monday, Jan. 17, or the property will become owned by the town.
Curbside recycling pickup is scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 17, and Tuesday, Jan. 18. Regular recycling pickup will be the third Monday and Tuesday of each month. Recycling bins will be delivered prior to this date.
There will be a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the municipal building to consider renewal of several junkyard-salvage permits.

Dog licenses for 1994 are available at the town office for dogs 6 months and older. Dogs must be licensed by Jan. 31, or owners will incur a $3 late fee by the state. After April 30, the late fee will be $10.

The Dixmont Scholarship Association is planning a garden and house tour to be held Saturday, July 30. The goal is to raise money for scholarships for any Dixmont resident going on to higher education. The town office will close at noon Thursday, Dec. 23, for the holiday.
There will be a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24, at the First United Methodist Church. Bring a bell, all are welcome.
The selectmen will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the town office.
Christmas trees will not be picked up at the curbside. They may be brought to the Public Works garage where the recycling committee will collect them.

Adult basketball, sponsored by the Rec Committee, will be held Sundays at Center Drive School with the court available 4-6:30 p.m. for women, and 6:30 p.m. on for men. Cost is $1 a day or $5 for the season.
Winterport
The transfer station will not be open Saturday, Dec. 25.
