Alton

Town offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, for the holiday, except where otherwise noted.

There will be a rabies clinic at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the municipal building. There is a $5 charge per animal.

Dog licenses are due for 1994. Be sure to bring rabies verification and spaying or neutering records. A $3 late fee will be applied after Monday, Jan. 31, 1994.

The selectmen meet at the municipal building every second and fourth Monday of the month.

Town office hours are 3-6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays.

Bradford

Selectmen will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the town hall.

Taxes for 1993 must be paid by Friday, Dec. 31, or names will be published in the town report.

Cub Scouts meet 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays at the town hall.

The code enforcement officer will be at the town hall 2-6 p.m. Mondays, and 8 a.m.-noon Wednesdays.

Bradley

The town office will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31.

Carmel

The Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at the municipal building.

The Square and Compass Club will sponsor a public baked bean supper 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Carmel Masonic Hall. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for children under 10.

Tax liens from 1991 must be paid before Monday, Jan. 17, or the property will become owned by the town.

Curbside recycling pickup is scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 17, and Tuesday, Jan. 18. Regular recycling pickup will be the third Monday and Tuesday of each month. Recycling bins will be delivered prior to this date.

There will be a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the municipal building to consider renewal of several junkyard-salvage permits.

Dog licenses for 1994 are available at the town office. A $3 late fee will be applied after Jan. 31, 1994.

Clifton

The Clifton United Baptist Church will go Christmas caroling at 6:30 p.m. today.

The Planning Board is operating under its winter schedule and will meet at 7 p.m. only the first Thursday of each month, at the town office.

Any adult interested in volunteering for the Eddington-Clifton Girl Scouts may call Margaret McKinney at 843-5838.

The town clerk will be in the town office 3-6 p.m. Wednesdays, weather permitting. She also may be reached at home, 843-5352.

Corinth

Selectmen will meet at 7 tonight at the town office.

The town dump will be closed Saturday, Dec. 25.

Residents interested in submitting articles from the Abner F. Morison Trust Fund for the 1993 annual town meeting must submit requests by Thursday, Jan. 6, 1994. All other articles must be submitted by Thursday, Jan. 20, 1994.

Dog licenses for 1994 are available at the town office for dogs 6 months and older. Dogs must be licensed by Jan. 31, or owners will incur a $3 late fee by the state. After April 30, the late fee will be $10.

Anyone interested in serving on the Central Penobscot Solid Waste Facility Recycling Committee should contact the town offices in Corinth, Bradford and Charleston.

New hours for the code enforcement officer will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesdays at the town office.

Dedham

The town office will be closed Monday, Dec. 27; and Friday, Dec. 31 as well as Dec. 24.

Fishing and hunting licenses for 1994 are available at the town office.

Dog licenses are available for 1994 at the town office.

A $10 operational charge on any animal brought to the animal shelter is in effect.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Planning Board, board of appeals or budget committee for Lucerne Village Corp. or Dedham may contact the town office.

Dixmont

Containers for all metals, including appliances (except those containing a refrigeration unit with freon), will be made available at the town’s transfer station for the entire month of December. The next available container month will be March 1994.

The volunteer fire department will meet at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the station.

Dog licenses for 1994 are available at the town clerk’s office. A $3 late fee will be applied after Monday, Jan. 31.

The Dixmont Scholarship Association is planning a garden and house tour to be held Saturday, July 30. The goal is to raise money for scholarships for any Dixmont resident going on to higher education. Eddington

Regular trash pickup will be held Friday, Dec. 24.

The Planning Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the F.A. Wood Municipal Building on an application from Philip and Hilma Adams, Route 9, for the manufacture and sale of arts and crafts. Residents interested in changing town ordinances should notify the town office by Monday, Dec. 27, or attend this public hearing.

Selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the F.A. Wood Municipal Building.

Glenburn

The Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at the municipal building.

The landfill will be open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26.

Dog licenses are due Jan. 1. A $3 late fee will be applied after Jan. 31, 1994.

Greenbush

Selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at the town hall.

The Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the town hall.

The school board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at the Helen S. Dunn School.

Selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at the town hall.

Hampden

Hampden 1994 bicentennial calendars, license plates and suncatchers are available at the town office. Calendars are $8; license plates, $7; and suncatchers, $12. Sweat shirts, hats and T-shirts are also available.

Hampden Telephone Co., 35 Western Ave., is selling recyclable tote bags decorated with the town’s bicentennial logo for $5 including tax. Proceeds will benefit the Hampden Christmas lighting project.

Senior adult fellowship will be held 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesdays at Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church, including trips, fun and games. Anyone planning to attend should bring a bag lunch and call 862-4195 by Tuesday.

The Hampden Historical Society offers group tours of its home, the Kinsley House, 83 Main Road South, and caters wedding receptions, showers, birthday celebrations, reunions and business parties. Hermon

The town office will close at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23 and will reopen on Monday, Dec. 27.

Fire permits may be obtained from the town office. Fire permits will be issued from the Fire Department 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays. The town office may issue fire permits only for the day of the burn and permits may be issued for anytime during the day at this time.

Dog licenses are available at the town office. A $3 late charge will be added after Jan. 31.

1994 hunting and fishing licenses are available at the town office.

Holden

Curbside trash pickup will continue to be Tuesdays. A yellow sticker must be attached to each receptacle to guarantee pickup.

The town office will close at noon Thursday, Dec. 23, and will reopen Monday, Dec. 27.

Selectmen will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the municipal building. Congratulations to new Selectman Ralph McLeod.

New hours for general assistance, other than for emergency cases which are taken any day, will be 1-2 p.m. Thursdays.

Hudson

Kenduskeag

The dump will be closed Saturday, Dec. 25, and be open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26.

Town office hours for the week of Dec. 27 are: regular hours on Tuesday, Dec. 28 and Thursday, Dec. 30; and 10 a.m.-noon Friday, Dec. 31.

Another hearing concerning Calvin McGraw’s junkyard will be held at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the municipal building.

Newburgh

Newburgh Snowmobile Club Riders will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the fire station.

The volunteer fire department will hold a work session at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the fire station.

Trash must be outside by 7 a.m. Fridays to guarantee pickup.

The recycling committee’s newspapers containing recycling information are available in local stores. Anyone who wants a recycling bin may call Resa Smith, 234-2466 or Lillianne Deighan, 234-2510.

Dog licenses for 1994 are available and are due on or before Jan. 31. A $3 late fee will be charged after that date.

Orono

The town office will be closed 1-3 p.m. today for a service awards ceremony.

Trash and recycling dates will be Thursday, Dec. 23, and Friday, Dec. 24.

Orrington

The town office will close at noon Thursday, Dec. 23, for the holiday.

There will be a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24, at the First United Methodist Church. Bring a bell, all are welcome.

The selectmen will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the town office.

Christmas trees will not be picked up at the curbside. They may be brought to the Public Works garage where the recycling committee will collect them.

Dog licenses are due Wednesday, Jan. 1. A $3 late fee will be applied after Jan. 31.

Adult basketball, sponsored by the Rec Committee, will be held Sundays at Center Drive School with the court available 4-6:30 p.m. for women, and 6:30 p.m. on for men. Cost is $1 a day or $5 for the season.

Winterport

The transfer station will not be open Saturday, Dec. 25.

An open men’s basketball gym for Winterport residents will be held 7:30-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Wagner School. The cost is $2 a person. Contact the recreation committee at 223-5055 for information.
