Swan’s 10 in fourth leads Dexter to victory

THORNDIKE – Heather Swan scored six of Dexter’s 10 fourth-quarter points to lead the Tigers past the Mount View Mustangs 34-30 in schoolgirl basketball action Thursday night.

Swan’s 10 in the fourth included four from the foul line as the Tigers held off the Mustangs. Swan finished with a game-high 16 points for Dexter.

Angel Fletcher sparked Mount View with eight points, 12 rebounds and six steals, while Leslie Weed added eight points.

At Wentworth Gym in Millinocket, the Minutemen outscored John Bapst 10-0 in the third quarter for a come-from-behind victory.

Tracy Jewers, Kelly Gates, and Kristy Wedge each scored eight points for the Minutemen.

Angelina Moore led Bapst with 10 points.

At Orono, the host Red Riots overcame an eight-point halftime deficit and held off a late charge to beat the Eagles.

Orono took the lead with about four minutes to play and held on win a desperation 3-pointer by the hosts missed at the buzzer.

Amy Taylor led the Riots with 13 points and Ragan Elsemore chipped in with 11 points.

Kathy Davis, Shannon Hamilton and Erin Shaw scored nine points apiece for Ellsworth.
