Regarding “Lobstergate,” the accident in Connecticut where rescue workers removed 14 crates of lobsters without permission, let me see if I understand this correctly.

Senior state attorney Bruce Hudock stated, after reviewing the facts, “these facts are simply not the stuff of which criminal minds are made,” therefore no charges were to be filed. I was not aware that one had to possess a “criminal mind” to perpetuate a crime. I’ve always been under the impression that if someone took something that did not belong to him or her, did not pay for whatever was taken, that particular act was called stealing. The last time I looked, stealing was a crime, regardless of one’s state of mind.

Hudock also wrote in his decision that “Greenwich residents and business owners are entitled to know that their possessions and their lives will be protected by public safety personnel.” What is the requirement for this? A Connecticut license plate on your car? Does this statement mean that all others are fair game to having their property, or even their lives stolen because rescue personnel in Greenwich don’t have a “criminal mind”?

State attorney Hudock, at the very least, should be fired, if not disbarred. Fire Chief Mark Dawson has the responsibility, along probably with the Connecticut State Police, to pay for the missing lobsters, plus interest. The worst aspect of this whole mess? The arrogant audacity of Bruce Hudock. If there is any justice in Connecticut, it will cost him his career. Russ Snyder Bar Harbor
