As the snow begins to cover the weeds in Bangor, another, stronger strain is beginning to pop up — campaign offices.
Currently, only one candidate, GOP gubernatorial hopeful Paul Young, a state representative from Limestone, has officially opened his doors for business. He’s located next to Pepino’s Restaurant on Main Street.
But former Portland Mayor Tom Allen, a Democrat, will soon open his gubernatorial office in downtown Bangor. Campaign staff are using the office now, but it won’t be open officially until Jan. 10.
And as in 1992, the Democrats plan to open an office that will serve as a clearing house for all Democratic candidates for state office.
“There will be coordinated campaign offices,” said Jim Mitchell of Bangor, chairman of the state Democratic Committee.
