HARRINGTON – Kim Johnson and Amy Murray combined to score 14 points in the pivotal fourth quarter to lift the Calais Blue Devils past the Narraguagus Knights 56-47 in a schoolgirl basketball showdown Thursday night.

Kelly Dow finished with 14 points to lead Calais, while Johnson had 12 and Murray and Holli Tapley netted 10 each. The Blue Devils led by only three points after three quarters before outscoring the Knights 24-18 in the fourth.

Valerie Moffitt had a game-high 19 points for Narraguagus and Gladys Ganiel tossed in 12.

At Machias, Leyla Sowerwine held Bree Robert to two points as Kelly Copp, 9 points, and Cindy Morse, 8 points, led the Bulldogs to a come-from-behind victory over Searsport. Sowerwine added six points for the winners.

Searsport’s Jennifer Shaver finished as the game’s high scorer with 12 points while teammate Jennifer Russ added nine.

An all-around effort enabled Machias to break a 19-19 third-quarter tie for the win after being held scoreless in the second half.

Sherry Pelletier had 13 points for the winners; Jenn Lamarr had nine and Sue Babin contributed eight points.

Becky Shields’ six points and four apiece by Sam Hayes and Sarah McCollough paced Fort Fairfield.
