PITTSFIELD — Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield will join the “Hearts in Bloom” campaign of the American Heart Association this year.
Each year, “Hearts in Bloom” bouquets are sold throughout Maine to raise funds to fight the nation’s number one killer — heart disease. The event, sponsored by the AHA, makes spring bouquets available through local participating businesses and organizations for a nominal donation of $6 each. The proceeds are used to fund education and research to reduce death and disability due to cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Channel 13’s Kim Block, who serves as honorary chair for the Hearts in Bloom campaign says, “What a wonderful way to treat yourself or someone special. Share the sentiment that Valentine’s Day brings while supporting the American Heart Association in its battle against heart disease.”
Orders and donations for bouquets will be accepted at the SVH Valley House through Jan. 27. The flowers will be delivered and ready for pick-up at the hospital on Feb. 14. To place an order, or for more information, contact the hospital at 487-5141, ext. 475.
