AUGUSTA — St. Paul Center has announced a variety of retreats and activities:
A WISDUM Retreat for widowed, separated, divorced and unmarried people will be offered from 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, until after lunch on Sunday, Feb. 6. Sister Paulette Ducharme will lead the weekend focusing on “Self-Image.” Topics will include “How to Deal with Negative Influences,” “The Goodness in Everyone,” and “The Rationale for Feeling Good about Yourself.” The cost for the weekend, including room and board, is $67, with $15 of that required as a deposit.
A French Day of Recollection will beheld 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Ash Wednesday, Feb. 16. Participants are invited to treat themselves to a quiet and reflective time to energize their spiritual batteries, in order to be better able to celebrate the Feast of the Resurrection. Activities will include distribution of ashes, and those attending may choose to receive the sacraments of reconciliation or anointing of the sick.
The fifth annual Holy Spirit Novena will be held Saturday, Feb. 19. The day will begin with registration at 8 a.m., and conclude with Mass at 4 p.m. The program will include prayers to the Holy Spirit, witnessing, talks and fellowship. The recommended donation, including the cost of a hot meal, is $17 a person or $30 a couple.
A Theology of Laity Workshop will be held 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26. Dr. John Bernier, a scripture scholar, will return to St. Paul’s to help participants understand their place in the modern church. His topic will be “Who’s Calling Whom, and Why?” Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the day will include a hot lunch. The cost of the workshop is $17. Reservations are necessary.
