Sean Stillings, 26, of 1716 Stillwater Ave., has announced he will run as a Republican for the Maine House of Representatives in District 117. Stillings is store manager for Plus Video on State Street.
Stillings, a Bangor resident for 20 years, attended Fruit Street School, Garland Street Middle School, and is a Bangor High School graduate. He holds a two-year degree in liberal studies and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Maine, Orono.
Stillings said he would seek office because, “The people of my district deserve better representation in Augusta than the Democratic party is giving them. The No. 1 priority of a state representative is to represent the constituents in the district and their interests. The current climate of Augusta is too political and not enough tough decisions are being made.”
Stillings said he wanted to “decrease state government, lower taxes and empower businesses to create more jobs.” He also would provide constituents with “a friend in government, with someone who will be there to help the constituents day to day.”
Stillings’ five goals are to shrink state government, decrease all taxation, increase constituent services, reform state aid to education and increase efficiency in Maine’s educational system, and establish true reform in Workers’ Compensation and employment security services.
