GREENVILLE — Residents took no action at a special town meeting Thursday on an article to spend $200 from unappropriated surplus for the Planning Board’s legal fund account.
The board’s legal funds were used up on attorney fees during its recent lawsuit against the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Residents approved the use of $2,300 from unappropriated surplus to pay the town’s legal expenses incurred by the Board of Selectmen in its defense of the appeals board’s action.
In other business, residents voted to use $4,000 from unappropriated surplus to pay substitute police officers while Officer Bill Chandler attends Maine Criminal Justice Academy, and to use $2,000 from unappropriated surplus for the Fire Department.
Residents also voted to accept a Maine Waste Management Agency grant of $11,400, and approved the town’s share of $2,180 from unappropriated surplus.
This grant will be used to purchase a mobile recycling trailer, 30 or more backyard composters, and 10 or more 90-gallon recycling containers.
