WALDO — The Waldo County Regional Vocational Center has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Kennebec Valley Technical College.

The funds can be used for staff training, curriculum development or instructional materials to implement studies that stress basic skills in mathematics, science and communications that will support further education and success in the workplace.

The Waldo County Regional Vocational Center and three other schools are “leading the way in providing studies for students who wish to enter a technical college or career,” KVTC Tech Prep Coordinator Roy Blood said of the four schools awarded grants. Erskine Academy, China; Lawrence High School, Fairfield; and Upper Kennebec Valley High School, Bingham, were the other recipients.
