In response to David Deschesne’s letter (April 2-3) against unions; it is narrow-minded employers with anti-union attitudes that have made it necessary to establish unions in the first place.

Unions represent the worker to help establish fair wages, good benefits and job security. Without these things, the economy would fold. Could you imagine buying a house or a car and not know how secure your job or wages were to pay for it? How about raising a family without some security? A person would have to default to welfare and your tax dollars would pay for that. …

So remember, the union employee you hire today could be your customer tomorrow, or maybe not.
