Starting time – Noon EDT.

Entries – More than 9,000.

Course records – Men, 2 hours, 7 minutes, 51 seconds, Rob de Castella, Australia, April 21, 1986; women, 2:22:43, Joan Benoit Samuelson, United States, April 18, 1983.

World records – Men, 2:06:50, Belayneh Densimo, Ethiopia, at Rotterdam, April 17, 1988; Women, 2:21:06, Ingrid Kristiansen, Norway, at London, April 21, 1985.

Prize money – $455,000, with $70,000 each for men’s and women’s first-place finishers in Open divisions, and $9,000 each for men’s and women’s first-place finishers in Masters and Wheelchair divisions. Bonuses: $50,000 for world record and $25,000 for course record in men’s and women’s Open divisions, and $10,000 for world record and $7,500 for course record in men’s and women’s Masters and Wheelchair divisions.
