BREWER – Brewer High’s Jaime Ferris no-hit Presque Isle in the first game of a double, but the Wildcats teed off in the second game as the two teams split a Saturday afternoon double head here.

Ferris’ no-hitter keyed a 12-1 Brewer win in the opener before Presque Isle bounced back with a 13-3 victory in the second game.

In the first game, Sara Burnett drove in two runs with a single and a triple while Emily Sevigny had two singles and a double, with one RBI.

In the second game, Nicole Gamblin ripped two doubles and a single, good for two RBIs while Shari Scallion and Kirsten Arndt had two singles.

Brewer was victimized by 14 errors in the two games.

Central 12, Mattanawcook 5

At Lincoln, the visiting Red Devils took advantage of walks and errors in a fifth-inning six-run explosion en route to the victory over the Lynx.

Dawn Wood had a double and a single to lead Central, 5-0. Monica Cookson added two singles and two RBIs.

Kara Lachance led 1-4 Mattanawcook with a double and two singles while Christy Ludden had a double and a base hit.

SAHS 20, Hodgdon 0

At Dyer Brook, Jody Brown and Darcy Chambers combined on a five-inning two-hitter as host Southern Aroostook remained unbeaten at 3-0. The game was shortened by the 12-run rule.

Shay Fox had four hits and two RBIs for the Warriors, while Jana Walker knocked in three runs with a double and a single. Erica Larson added a triple, a single and two RBIs.

Kerri Ivey and Jessica White singled for 0-2 Hodgdon.

Machias 23, Bangor Christian 11

At Bangor, Leyla Sowerwein and Cindy Morse combined to drive in nine runs as the visiting Bulldogs of Machias survived an 11-run second inning by their hosts to post the win.

Sowerwein plated five with a two-run home run, a two-run triple, and an RBI single. Morse scored four with a single, double, and two triples.

For Bangor Christian, Beth Treadwell and Kendra Porter each had a two-run single.

Baseball

Bangor Christian 7, Machias 1

At Bangor, Luke Chiavelli drove in three runs with two singles and a double as Danny Parks shutdown the Machias hitters leading Bangor Christian to its fourth victory in five games.

A 2-run double by Chiavelli broke the game open in the third.

For Machias, 1-2, Aaron Coffin led off the game with a home run.

CAHS 22, Washburn 7

At Washburn Friday, the Panthers used a 14-hit attack to cruise to a six-inning win.

Chad Boyd homered and hit two singles to pace the Panther offense, while also earning the pitching win. Tim Brewer and Matt Townsend added two singles each.

J.B. Brown hit two home runs, good for three RBI, for Washburn.

Madawaska 13, Limestone 7

At Limestone Friday, Clint Gendreau rapped a pair of doubles for two RBI and Jimmy Keller added two singles to pace the Owls, who scored nine runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good.

John Butts hit a double and single and had two RBI for the Eagles.

Hodgdon 8, SAHS 7

At Dyer Brook, Jered Stewart scored the winning run in the tenth inning on a fielder’s choice by teammate John White as Hodgdon defeated Southern Aroostook.

Stewart reached on an error, stole second, and took third on another error before scoring. Jered Quint had two home runs and two singles for the Hawks, while winning pitcher White had a double and triple and struck out 11.

Kyle Fox doubled and singled for the Warriors, and Fox and Adam Burpee combined to strike out 20 Hodgon batters, including five in one inning.

Mattanawacook 13, Central-EC 4

At Lincoln, Corey Hartford highlighted an 11-hit attack with four hits and five RBI in leading the Lynx to the victory.

Hartford had two singles, a double and a triple for Matanawcook, while Spike Clemend doubled, tripled, and drove in two runs, while Ken Glidden picked up two singles and the win.

Willie Rivera paced Central of East Corinth with two singles, and J.R. Dow added a single and double

Nokomis 15-10, Caribou 3-13

At Newport, the Vikings and Warriors split a doubleheader Satruday, featuring lots of offense.

In the first game, Eric Johnson paced the Warriors with a double, two singles, and two RBI while also scattering four hits on the mound. Josh Morse added three singles and two RBI.

Shane Maddy had two singles for Caribou.

Patrick Towle’s two-run single in the fourth gave the Vikings the lead for good in the second game, breaking a 9-9 tie.

Mark Beaulieu, Kris Schneider and Jeremy Dalton each contributed two singles for Caribou, and Towle picked up the win in relief.

Darren Smith hit two singles and a triple for Nokomis, while Harvey Kosowski added two doubles and two RBI.

Mount View 10, John Bapst 8

At Thorndike, the host Mustangs earned their third straight victory without a loss behind Cal Pickford’s offensive and defensive heroics.

Pickford, a senior, stroked a double and two singles to key the offense while also pitching 4 2/3 innings of 1-run, 3-hit relief as the Mustangs posted the win.

Shawn Weed and Greg Schelbe each drove in two runs with two singles.

For John Bapst, Jeremy Spencer had a single and a double.
