BANGOR – Courtney Arndt’s two-out double in the top of the seventh inning drove in Julie Fulton to lift the Presque Isle Wildcats by the Bangor Rams 10-9 in the second game of a schoolgirl softball doubleheader Saturday.

Bangor won the opener 17-5 in a game called after five innings.

Nicole Gamblin had two doubles and a single for the winners and Fulton had a double to go with her single. Alison Robichaud had two doubles, a single and an RBI for Bangor. Julie Murray knocked in three runs with a double and a sacrifice fly and Becca Kinney doubled.

In the opener, Michelle Puls went 4-for-4 with a triple, three doubles and four runs batted in to pace Bangor. Murray added an RBI double.

Jen White’s two base hits and Joy Rayburn’s RBI double led PI.

At St. Agatha, Michelle Paradis spun a three-hitter and Jill Michaud rapped a two-run single to lead the host Pioneers to the win.

Renae Lavoie added a single and two RBI for the winners.

Hampden sweeps Caribou

At Caribou, Becky Fraser rapped six hits to help spark Hampden Academy to a doubleheader sweep of Caribou. The Broncos won the first game 10-7 and took the second 20-8.

In the opener, Fraser belted two home runs and a single and scored three times for the visitors. Amy Dwyer homered and singled behind winner Mary Thompson.

Theresa Bray singled three times for Caribou, while Jen Doak had a double and a single. Winner Catherine Ouellette-Lupo and Missy Bouchard had two hits each.

Dwyer was the key in Game 2, going six innings on the mound and helped her cause with a double and two singles for HA. Fraser aortier stroked three hits each for the winners, with Julie Barrows and Rachel King each contributing a double and a single.

Doak provided a double and two singles and Bray singled three times for the Vikings. Loser Missy Bouchard and Melissa Adams tacked on two hits apiece.

At Bangor, Tara Matula knocked in five runs with four singles in the first game, and her sister Tammi Matula followed that with six RBI on a single and two doubles in the second game of a doubleheader sweep.

Sarah Rockwell added a single and a home run for the Patriots in the first game. Erica Johnson rapped three singles and had 3 RBI in the second.

For East Grand of Danforth, Shelly Page and Penny Harvey drove in three runs each in the first game, and Julie Downs ripped a two-run double in the second.

At Bangor, Dan Parks started Bangor Christian on its way to a twinbill sweep with an 18-strikeout four-hitter in the first game, and the Patriots pounded out 14 hits in the second game.

Parks doubled and singled twice, driving in two runs to help his cause. Luke Chiavelli doubled, singled twice, and had one RBI.

Ryan Gilman rapped two singles for the Vikings.

In the second game, Gabe Carr hit a double and two singles to lead the Patriots.

Ryan Gilman had an RBI single for East Grand.

Hampden sweeps Caribou

At Caribou, Hampden Academy pounded out 27 hits en route to a sweep of Caribou, winning the first game 21-3 and the second 15-10.

In the opener, Derek Dubois knocked in three runs with a double and three singles to support Aaron Moore’s six-hit pitching. Jason Doherty connected for a double and two singles, scoring four runs, Mike Wentworth doubled and singled, and Tim Patchell cranked a three-run home run.

Michael Kelley hit an RBI double for the Vikings.

In Game 2, Mike Tardif cranked a solo homer, a double and two singles to spark HA. Joe Leonard slugged a three-run homer and a single.

Scott Gove paced Caribou with a double and a single good for three RBIs and Pat Towle had a double and a single. Joe Cowett, Adam Pelkey, Darren Barnes and Jason Witts had two hits apiece.

At Searsport Friday, Billy Look nearly hit for the cycle, driving in three runs, as the Royals pulled away for the win.

Look finished with a single, double, and home run for Jonesport-Beals, Tony Beal added two doubles and a homer with five RBIs, and Elliott Peabody doubled, homered, and had three RBIs. Mike Kenney earned the win.

Mike Solovie doubled, singled, and drove in a run to pace Searsport.
