Greenville may get McDonald’s

GREENVILLE — A McDonald’s Restaurant may be constructed on Route 15 in Greenville overlooking Moosehead Lake, adding as many as 50 jobs to the local economy.

A proposal for the restaurant on Indian Hill was presented to the Planning Board on Wednesday. A public hearing on Wednesday, May 25, in the town office will allow residents to comment on the proposal.

The proposed 1,800-square-foot building, one of the smallest in the New England states, would seat about 25 people and would represent a capital investment of about $750,000, adding to the town’s tax base, according to Kevin Feeney, a real estate agent for the corporation.

Feeney and Dave Pagel, the corporation’s construction engineer, said the restaurant would employ 30 to 50 full- and part-time employees and would have an estimated annual payroll of $200,000.

Feeney said McDonald’s would lease land owned by the Muzzy brothers on Indian Hill next to the Indian Hill Trading Post. Whether or not the familiar golden arches will be on the site will be addressed through the town’s zoning ordinance, he said. The building will be designed with the traditional drive-through window to service customers.

“We intend to be a real good corporate member here,” said Feeney. “We just want to be the best we can possibly be.”
