ORONO – Orono’s Chris Bagley pitched a four-hitter to lift the Orono Red Riots to a 7-1 schoolboy baseball win over the Sumner Tigers Wednesday.

Bagley struck out five and walked three.

Shane Tyrrell and Marc Halsted provided two hits each and Charlie Hite doubled for Orono.

Eric Ford had a pair of hits and James Schwartz a double for Sumner of East Sullivan.

At Howland, host Penobscot Valley scored three runs in each of the first two innings to post the victory.

Jason Savage rapped three hits (RBI), Jamie Leveille a double and a single (RBI) and Tim Sereyko added an RBI triple.

Brooks Sturtevant had a run-scoring triple for Schenck of East Millinocket.

Rockland 13, MCI 1

At Rockland, the host Tigers earned their first win of the season behind the three-hit pitching of Corey Williams, who struck out four and walked one. The game was called after 4 1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule.

Darren Goeke tripled and singled for an RBI to power Rockland, with Chris Seavey hitting a two-run double.

Trevor Lykens singled and scored the lone run for Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

At Husson College in Bangor, Shawn Damon pitched a four-hitter as host John Bapst knocked off Mount Desert Island.

Damon, pitching for the first time since opening day after suffering tendinitis, struck out nine and walked one. He also helped himself with a pair of singles.

Andy Jagels singled twice and Shannon Hall ripped a three-run double in the fourth for the Crusaders.

Bill Swanburg hit a run-scoring double and Jerry Burns and RBI single for the Trojans behind loser Adam Lawson, who allowed seven hits.

Dexter 8, GSA 6

At Dexter, Mike Gilbert drilled a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Tigers to victory over George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.

Gilbert also went the distance on the mound, spreading out six hits and striking out four. Matt Haskell singled three times and had two RBIs, knocking in the tying run to set the stage for Gilbert.

James Rankin had three hits and two RBIs and Adam Gray doubled for the Eagles behind loser Scott Murphy, who pitched a complete-game five-hitter. He struck out 10 and walked three.

Brewer 4, Nokomis 1

At Brewer, Darren Beers allowed only two hits while striking out 12 to pace the Witches past the Warriors of Newport.

Jeff Millett led Brewer in hitting with two singles and an RBI. Beers doubled.

Josh Morse had a single and Darrin Smith a double for the Warriors.

At Deer Isle, Mike Solevei hit a three-run homer in the first inning to give the Vikings an early lead and Ryan Deredin made it stand, throwing 11 strikeouts.

Deredin held off a late charge in the seventh when Shawn Webb hit a two-run single to cut Searsport’s lead to one.

Webb also struck out 10 strikeouts in a losing cause for the Mariners.

Old Town 3, Hampden 2 (9 inns.)

At Old Town, Shane McCannell’s sacrifice fly with one out in the ninth inning delivered Andy Trice with the winning run as the Indians nipped Hampden.

Trice reached on an infield single to open the inning, stole second and eventually moved to third on Chris Hashey’s fly out. That set the stage for McCannell’s deep fly to left.

Trice had no-hit Hampden through six innings – a Jason Dority first-inning double was negated by a batting-out-of-order ruling – before Tim Patchell broke up the no-hit bid with a single in the seventh. Hampden eventually tied the game on Kyle King’s two-out, two-run double.

John Powers had three singles for Old Town and Andy Roy had a pair of base hits. McCannell had a single to go with his sacrifice fly.

At Bangor, Jeff Miller threw 10 strikeouts in a two-hit shutout and hit two singles for the Lynx.

Jason Clifford added a three-run triple in the fourth inning. Cory Hartford also chipped in with two singles for two RBI.

Shawn Merrits and Reggie Rice each singled for the Pandas.

At Hermon, Chad Scripture spaced out eight hits, striking out four and walking three, to pitch Hermon past the Bucks.

The Hawks broke the game open with a three-run rally in the fourth inning on a couple of errors, a walk and Darren Morin’s RBI fielder’s choice.

Scott Shaw and Adam Hunt had two hits each for Hermon and Morin had a single and two RBIs. Hunt also drove in a run.

David Gross and Ed Rankin had two hits and an RBI each.

At Thorndike, Chris Staples was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning and Eric Rist followed with an RBI single as Camden-Rockport beat Mount View.

Jake Kubel went the distance for the winners, scattering 11 hits. He fanned six and walked four.

Ben Laukka and Mike Geisler had two singles apiece for the winners.

Greg Schelble and Cale Pickford had a double and a single apiece for Mount View and Schelble had two RBIs. Pickford knocked in one run. Jason Littlefield and Shawn Weed had two singles each with Littlefield picking up an RBI.
