Former mayor seeks election to Maine House

Gerald Robertson, a Brewer city councilor who has served many times as mayor, and a former legislator, has announced he will seek election to the Maine House of Representatives in District 115, including all of Brewer except part of Ward 1.

Robertson has been active in municipal, county and state government, and has worked with all sides in passing vital legislation. Some of his priorities include the following:

Economic development and job creation; inducement for business and industry, including lower Workers’ Compensation rates, income tax cuts, reduction of utility rates; education funded through a formula that will not continually increase cost to taxpayers yet provide the training needed by the community; revision of the welfare system; addressing abuse of elderly people and retaining energy assistance for the elderly; and regaining people’s faith in state government and reducing cost of government.

Retired executive director of the Bangor Housing Authority, Robertson worked many years at Eastern Fine Paper, and is a certified public housing director and Maine registered broker. He manages the General Electric Co. Employees Credit Union and is a member of many local, county and state organizations including the Brewer City Council, Brewer Development Corp. and Eastern Area Agency on Aging.
