ROCKLAND — A Massachusetts woman was arrested at midnight Saturday and charged with driving while intoxicated after her car collided with a Knox County Sheriff’s Department cruiser.

Rockland Police Sgt. William F. Donnelly, who investigated the accident, said Deputy Ernie McIntosh was driving the 1993 Ford county cruiser along Union Street when it was struck by a 1991 Hyundai at the intersection of Talbot Avenue. McIntosh followed the vehicle and finally stopped it on Limerock Street.

Rockland police said the driver, Nancy M. Demerski, 46, of Worcester, Mass., was arrested and charged with drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Police said both vehicles received $500 damage, but no injuries were reported.
