The vision of Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, appeared on Dec. 9, 10 and 12, 1531cq, to Juan Diego, an Aztec Indian, on a hill outside Mexico City. In a miracle accepted by the Roman Catholic Church, her image was left on his cactus-fiber cloak and is on display at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. The colors of the image are not paint, and are of unknown origin.

In 1991, the bishops of Mexico gave a 4-foot-by-6-foot photographic replica to the Catholics of the United States to be used in evangelism and pro-life activities.

The headquarters for the missionary image, which is being shared throughout the country, is in St. Albans, Vt.
