PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine campuses at Presque Isle and Fort Kent will be reached through new telephone numbers beginning Thursday, June 16.

The University of Maine System board of trustees has approved the acquisition and installation of new AT&T telephone systems for UMPI and UMFK.

The new telephone number for UMPI will be 768-9400, beginning June 16.

The new telephone number for UMFK will be 834-7500, and will take effect by late summer, according to UMFK officials.

Charles Bonin, UMPI vice president for administration and finance, said the old UMPI system was purchased in the 1970s.

“The technology is not only antiquated, but also inadequate for our growing needs. This new state-of-the-art system brings the university up to speed with the latest technology,” Bonin said.

Features available under the AT&T plan include direct dial, voice mail, and the capacity for future growth.
