Junior golf crowns decided

FARMINGDALE – Dan Stein, Nate Ellis and Abby Spector won age-division championships at Kennebec Heights Country Club here Thursday in the 1994 Maine State Golf Association Junior Championship.

Stein, of J. W. Parks in Pittsfield, won the 16-17-year-old division by defeating Ryan Gall of Augusta 2-1 in match play.

Nate Ellis of Natanis beat Ian Sady of Dexter 2-up for the 14-15 championship.

Spector, of Waterville Country Club and the only girl in her division, won the 13-and-under title by defeating Charles Jordan of Martindale 4-2.

Quarterfinals: Dan Stein, J.W. Parks, def. Nick Stevens, Webhannet, 2-1; Scott Sirois, Kennebec Heights, defeated Ben Goodall, Kennebec Heights, 2-1; Joe Graceffa, Augusta, defeated T. J. Caouette, Augusta, 4-3; Ryan Gall, Augusta, def. Chris Brown, Salmon Falls, 6-4.

Semifinals: Stein def. Sirois 4-3; Gall def. Graceffa 4-3.

Final: Stein def. Gall 2-1. 14-15 Division

Quarterfinals: Ian Sady, Dexter, def. Chris Delamater, Norway, 4-3; Steve Bleile, Kennebec Heights, def. Matt Simard, Springbrook, 2-1; Nate Ellis, Natanis, def. Ryan Day, Bar Harbor, 6-5; Jeff Cyr, Biddeford-Saco, def. Tim Bonenfant, Kennebec Heights, 2-up.

Semifinals: Sady def. Bleile 3-1; Ellis def. Cyr 1-up, 19 holes.

Final: Ellis def. Sady 2-up. 13-under Division

Quarterfinals: Abby Spector, Waterville, def. Dan Buttner, Bath, 2-1; Trev Alexander, Wilson Lake, def. Steve Mardos, Kennebec Heights, 3-2; Charles Jordan, Martindale, def. Ben Daughan, York, 5-3; Jason Straetz, Presque Isle, def. Tyler Rowe, Augusta, 2-1.

Semifinals: Spector def. Alexander 3-1; Jordan def. Straetz 1-up, 10 holes.

Final: Spector def. Jordan 4-2.
