Upstart Sunrise, in its first year of existence, joined Millinocket on top of the District 3 Little League baseball heap, as both earned their second victories without a loss in playoff action Thursday.
Sunrise handed Machais a loss in its first game of the double-elimination tourney with a 7-6 decision. Millinocket topped Border League 7-3. In other games, Calais, 1-1, ousted Moosabec with a 19-4 win, Bangor East remained alive in the losers bracket with a 4-2 win that eliminated Old Town, and Coastal (1-1) knocked off Acadian (0-2) 10-2.
In District 2 Little League Softball, Knox Suburban downed Damariscotta 16-6 in a mutual tourney opener.
Calais 19, Moosabec 4
At Calais, Lee Chabre spun a three-hitter, striking out 10 batters, and drove in three runs with three doubles to pace Calais.
J.J. Frost ripped a two-run home run, a double and a single to drive in four runs for Calais, while Jason Gookin had a two-run homer and two doubles. Ryan Fox added a double and a single and two RBIs.
Glenn Libby singled twice and drove in a pair of runs for Moosabec.

At Blue Hill, Frank Lymburner struck out 10 batters in his five-inning stint as the hosts won.
Coastal managed only five hits, but took advantage of nine walks in the victory. Gabe Michelson, Mac Martin and Joel Wessel doubled for the winners, while Andy Bye rapped an RBI single.
Kris Douglas singled and doubled for Acadian. Jay Hanscom added a pair of singles.

At Millinocket, Bradley Wheaton scattered five hits, striking out 11, and walking three, to lead Millinocket to a come-from-behind victory over Border League.
Josh Emerson had two singles while Aaron Civiello and Jason Folsom had a triple and a double, respectively, for Millinocket.
For Border, Gary Bell had two singles while Andy McGwire had a two-run single.

At Old Town, righthander Matt Fisher fired a three-hitter, striking out eight and walking two, and run-scoring singles by Eric Goldsmith and Dave Drew keyed a three-run first inning.
Goldsmith and Drew each had two singles for Bangor East.
Seth Obed doubled for Old Town and Jason Sirois had an RBI single.

At Machias, Kip Stubbs knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth when his bases-loaded fly ball behind first base wasn’t caught.
Nathanial Davis drove in Vincent Emery with a sacrifice fly to tie the game for Machias in the top of the sixth.
Bruce Hall ripped a bases-loaded triple to cap a four-run third inning for the winners.
Jeffrey Look paced Machias, driving in a run with two doubles and a single.
