ORONO – Ray Houston pitched six strong innings, scattering six singles and giving up only two runs, as Zone 1 frontrunner Old Town-Orono downed Trenton 7-4 in American Legion baseball action Thursday.
Houston struck out three and walked only one while improving to 3-0. Ron Coombs drove in two runs with a triple and a single for the winners, while Marc Halsted had two singles and two RBIs. Evan Stinson added two singles and scored two runs.
Matt Haney rapped three singles and Jerry Gray had a double and three RBIs for Trenton.

Brewer 12, Bangor 3
At Heddericg Field in Brewer, righthander Ben Jenkins scattered five hits and Mike Solovei went three-for-four and drove in two runs to pace Brewer to its win over Bangor. Brewer won the season series against the Comrades 2-1.
Jenkins, now 5-2, struck out two and walked one while pitching the distance.
The Falcons broke the game open early with a six-run, first-inning rally featuring singles by Jason Dority, Solovei and Mike Tardif, an infield error that produced two runs and a run-producing wild pitch.
Tiger Stewart drove in three runs with a two-run single and a fielder’s choice, and Tardif had two base hits and an RBI. Tony Fernandez doubled and singled and drove in a run for Bangor.

At Skowhegan, Corey Hight struck out eight batters and tossed a three-hitter as the hosts won their third straight game.
Howie Pike lashed a triple and a single to pace Skowhegan. Kregg Jarvais added a two-run double and Corey Estes doubled.
Bobby Hughes had a double for Waldo County.

Central Maine 14, Bucksaver 1
At Mahaney Diamond in Orono, Central Maine pounded out 14 hits en route to the lopsided Eastern Maine Amateur Baseball League victory.
Mark Reed drove in four runs with a double and a single for the Cubs, while Andy Kiah hit two singles and a triple and knocked in two runs. Glenn Tufts added a single and a double and three RBIs, and Chad Graffam and Carl Larson each hit a single and a double.
John Novak led Bucksaver with two singles. Troy Varney added an RBI single.
