ST. ALBANS — Demonstrations of Indian and early American lifestyles will be offered in conjunction with the fifth annual St. Albans Indian Lake Summerfest Saturday, Aug. 6.
An encampment of American Indians at the Ace Hardware property will have basket weaving demonstrations, storytelling and music. Nearby, long rifle enthusiasts will provide demonstrations, history and folklore.
A firefighters breakfast kicks off the special day with a 6 a.m. start and sets a theme of food, food, and more food throughout the day. Other activities during the day include a flea market and craft show, storytelling, and parade at 9:30 a.m. The Highlander Bagpipe Band will participate, along with the 40 Horse Hitch Model Display, the Shriners’ Mini-Wheelers.
Games, food and exhibits and exhibits will be located at the town hall, fire department hall, the Grange hall and on to the Ace Hardware property from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A chicken barbecue is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. and boat parade at 2 p.m.
Craftspeople, gardeners, cooks and seamstresses will compete in an old-fashioned Grange competition with quilts, jellies, preserves and needlework. All entries must be at the Grange Hall no later than 9 a.m. the day of the competition. Entries can be left at the Grange Hall late Friday, Aug. 5, up to 7 p.m. For more information on the competition contact Donna Provencher at 938-2302.
Proceeds from this year’s dunk tank fund-raiser will benefit the Fire Department’s efforts to purchase a hydraulic extrication tool.
