MADAWASKA — The Greater Madawaska Chamber of Commerce has named a new executive director. Adrienne Albert was hired by the board of directors late last week and assumed Chamber duties Monday.
“I’m having a terrific time,” Albert said Wednesday. She’s already at work on two projects.
The first is a Sept. 7 luncheon at the Gateway Motel featuring U.S. Sen. William Cohen, who will discuss free trade.
The other is the 1994 St. John Valley Benefit Open, a two-day golf tournament on Sept. 17 and 18 at the Birch Point Golf Club and the Fort Kent Golf Club. Proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit St. John Valley Associates, Inc., which provides services to mentally retarded adults.
A lifelong resident of Madawaska, Albert has worked in the local business community for two decades. Some of her most recent positions were with Jacky’s Boutique, Brooks Pharmacy and Daigle Drugs. She also operated a local restaurant.
Albert succeeded former director Brenda Libby, who last month accepted a similar post with the Caribou Chamber of Commerce.
