On Aug. 3, Christine Diebold truly described Jeanette Beaton as the “Avid Traveler” to a T. She is to be commended for the very interesting and, of course, very true story.

I’ve known Jeanette since 1980 and, yes, she does like to travel. Her letters to us tell us in detail wherever she lands for a few days.

Not only does she travel all over our world but is very interested to find out about our states. She has gone just to see the truckers’ parade in California. Everywhere Jeanette travels is a special interest to someone, as she illustrates down to the detail all events.

Most of us are not so fortunate to travel as Jeanette does but as we read her letters we feel we are there. Interesting and informative are all of her correspondence.

Jeanette’s sister, Madelyn Linscott, who was an English teacher in Winthrop, can tell readers the trips she had taken with Jeanette as well as her own adventures throughout our states and abroad. The adventure of the ski club outings is one to be awed by the viewers of the Bangor Daily News. One year Madelyn was named “Teacher of the Year.”

Not only Madelyn, but also her husband Stanley. Stanley was superintendent of the fisheries for the state of Maine, and many a tale can be related of interest by him. … Carl (Tom) Mutch Danforth Martha V. Barton Danforth
