Watson leads Hermon to win

HERMON – Robbie Watson scored two goals and assisted on two others as the Hermon Hawks rolled to a 5-0 schoolboy soccer victory over the Searsport Vikings Saturday.

Brazilian exchange student Mauricio Trezub also scored twice for the 2-0-2 Hawks and Joey Oxley scored the other goal. Goalie Sean Smith had to make just one save for the shutout.

Sione Taungatuis stopped 20 of Hermon’s 30 shots for 0-3 Searsport.

Mount Desert Island 1, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Garric Worcester scored the only goal of the game with 38:25 left in the second half off an assist by Geoff Slack.

Alfred Doyle made seven saves on 10 stops to earn the shutout for the 2-1 winners.

Michael Bills stopped five of eight shots for 1-2 Sumner.

Ellsworth 3, John Bapst 0

At Eastern Maine Technical College in Bangor, Darby Higgins scored two goals to spark Ellsworth to victory.

Higgins put the 3-0-1 Eagles up 1-0 off a Kirk Harriman assist in the first half, then scored on a James Pidhurne setup in the second half. Adrian Gray had an unassisted goal for Ellsworth. Matt MacDonald made two saves on four shots.

Garrod Guimond came up with 19 saves on 24 shots for the 1-2 Crusaders.

Deer Isle-Stonington 2, Shead 1

At Perry, Aaron Nevilles converted a Torry Johnson pass into the game-winner with 2:15 left for the Mariners, now 1-2.

Steve Sullivan scored the other goal for DI-S, while Matt Combs made 10 saves on 15 shots.

John McPherson scored off Shawn Small’s assist for 0-1 Shead of Eastport. Andy Murphy stopped 13 of 18 shots.

Penobscot Valley 4, Central 0

At East Corinth, Darren Thibodeau scored two goals and assisted on another for the Howlers.

Andy Weymouth and Brad Durost tallied the other goals for the 2-1 winners of Howland, while Joey Dunn and Corey Fleming had assists. Fleming also made eight saves on nine shots in net.

Chris Horn and Nick Parent combined to make three saves on eight shots for 0-3 Central.

Orono 2, Bucksport 1

At Bucksport, goals by Mike Watson and Chris Furbish were all the Red Riots needed.

Aaron Asimakopoulos made five stops on nine shots in goal for the 3-1-0 Red Riots.

Tom Pollard scored the lone goal for 3-1 Bucksport. Dave Winchester made 13 saves on 18 shots.

Girls soccer

Bangor 3, Presque Isle 2

At Bangor, sophomore Sarah Parcak scored two goals as the Rams improved to 2-1.

Brooks Deering scored off a Julie Murray assist for the other Bangor goal. Cathy Flemming assisted on one of Parcak’s scores. Alison Manowski made six saves on 12 shots in goal.

April Mosher and Heather Norsworthy scored the goals for 5-2 Presque Isle. Andrea Millhouse added an assist and goalie Jamie Powers made seven stops on 13 shots.

Field hockey

Central 1, Piscataquis 0

At Guilford, Dawn Wood pounced on a rebound and fired it into the net from five yards out at the 28:35 mark of the second half to give Central of East Corinth the win.

Monica Cookson made seven saves on 14 shots for 3-0 Central.

Jen Moore stopped 10 of 17 shots for 2-1 Piscataquis Community.

PCHS won the JV game, 2-1.
