Sunday was a drag for Bill Bickford

PLYMOUTH – Bill Bickford of Epsom, N.H., was the big winner here Sunday, taking home four victories in the Stock Class finals at the New England Grass Drags Championships of snowmobile racing.

Bickford, riding all Ski-Doos, won Classes A, C, D, and E, beating a total of 77 other riders for the championships.

In Class A, Bickford beat Kevin Bailey of Gorham and Mark Helsor of Lincoln for the title. In Class C, he topped Robbie Plourde of Caribou and Bailey. In Class D, he won over Kerry McDonald of Fredericton, New Brunswick. And in Class E, Bickford posted victories over Craig Sessions of Shelburne Falls, Mass., and Plourde.

Other three-event winners were Susan Curtis of Presque Isle in three Improved Stock Class finals, and Donald Burgess of Bangor in three Pro Stock Class finals.

Winslow bests Ridge field

Kerry Winslow of Limington won his feature event of the year here Saturday at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough.

Mike Johnson of Scarborough was second while Glenn Cusack, another hometown boy, was third.

Steve Nelson of Albion won Unity Raceway’s Late Model Sportsman feature when the race was declared completed after rains stopped it on lap 28.

Dave St. Clair of Liberty took second, while Paul Pierce of Lincolnville finished third.

Wright earns victory

At Wiscasset Raceway, Kenny Wright of Woolwich took the lead with four laps left and held on to post his tenth Late Model Sportsman win in a caution-free feature Friday.

Jeff Taylor of Farmington, who led for most of the race, ended up in second, while Dick Belisle of Vassalboro took a comfortable third.
