HAMPDEN – Tracey Dunton booted home a rebound one minute into overtime to give the Hampden Academy Broncos a 2-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Brewer Witches Thursday.

Bethany Atkins assisted on the winning goal as her shot from the top left side of the 18-yard line was pushed out by Brewer goalie Heather Hogan to Dunton.

Atkins scored the first goal for 3-2-0 Hampden unassisted with 3:26 left in the first half. Goalie Shilo Marden made four saves on eight shots.

Amy Gregory scored unassisted for 2-2-1 Brewer with 11:18 left in the game. Hogan finished with nine saves on 14 shots.

Bangor 2, MDI 0

At Mount Desert Island, Sarah Parcak scored two goals to lift Bangor over MDI and improve its record to 4-1. The shots were assisted by Cathy Flemming and Jill Partridge.

Jaime Lewis and Lacey Richards combined for nine saves on 16 shots for 4-1 MDI.

For the Rams, goalkeeper Becca Kinney stopped six out of the 11 shots she faced.

Bangor also won the JV contest, 3-1.

Ellsworth 2, George Stevens 0

At Blue Hill, Kim Beakman and Samantha Shedeck each scored unassisted goals to lift Ellsworth (2-3) past George Stevens Academy (1-2).

Lisa Billings made five saves on seven shots en route to the shutout.

For GSA, Betsy Lepper recorded nine saves on 15 shots.

Old Town 0, Nokomis 0

At Newport, the home team got a 21-save performance out of goalkeeper Monica Kus to preserve the tie with Old Town.

Kendra Brown stopped 12 of 17 shots for Old Town.

Bucksport 2, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Carrie Russell scored twice, unassisted, in the first half to propel the Golden Bucks over the host Tigers.

Bucksport improved its record to 2-3. In goal, Karrie Hoke made nine saves on 23 Sumner shots.

Sumner goalkeeper Alyssa Weaver had 13 saves on 15 Bucksport shots.

Orono 2, Hermon 1 (OT)

At Orono, behind the scoring of Jen Freese and the assists of Molly Holmberg, the Red Riots came from behind to defeat Hermon in overtime. Orono is 4-0-1 and Hermon 3-2.

Freese’s first goal at 9:06 into the second half tied the score 1-1. Hermon’s Lisa Doughty had scored at 19:03 of the first half off an assist by Heidi Glazier. The Freese-Holmberg combo got the game-winner with 2:22 remaining in overtime.

Orono goalkeeper Sue Gardner made 11 saves on 13 shots and Hermon goalkeeper Pam Poland had 9 saves on 12 shots.

Orono won the JV game 1-0.

Boys soccer

Schenck 3, Penobscot Valley 0

At East Millinocket, Darren Stanley made 12 saves on 22 shots to record the shutout and lead host Schenck past the visiting Howlers.

Thomas Jamo had a goal and an assist for the 3-1 Wolverines. Eric Giberson and Chad Michaud also had goals.

For 2-2 PVHS, Corey Fleming stopped 18 of 32 shots.

Greenville 2, Foxcroft 1

At Dover-Foxcroft, Scott Anderson and C.B. Grenier scored goals to stake unbeaten Greenville to a 2-0 lead and the Lakers held on from there to post their sixth win without a defeat.

Mike Burgess added an assist for the winners while Josh Glavine had six saves on 15 shots.

For Foxcroft, Ry Hoffman had an unassisted goal. Dan Cox made 25 saves on 29 shots.

Lee 2, So. Aroostook 0

At Lee, Thomas Cormier scored twice to lead the 3-3 Pandas oWarriors. Southern Aroostook dropped to 0-8.

Cormier scored his first goal off an assist by George Bunker at 22:08 of the first half and the second, unassisted, at 27:55 of the second half. Lee took 21 shots on goal and goalkeeper John Cole made five saves on eight SA shots.

Southern Aroostook goalkeeper Brad Jones had 10 saves.

Field hockey

Winslow 4, Cam-Rock 0

At Winslow, Sarah Powers scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Winslow to the win.

Kelly Russell, Jen McCaslin, and Kate Pooler also had goals while Krista McClure had two assists. JoJo St. Peter made five saves on seven shots for the 3-2 winners.

For Camden-Rockport, 2-3, Amanda Crysler had 23 saves on 27 shots.

Winslow won the JV game 2-1.

Gardiner 1, Skowhegan 0

At Gardiner, Kim Palmer had the only goal of the game to give Gardiner the victory over Skowhegan.

Goalkeeper Dawn Novey saved all six shots she faced for 3-1 Gardiner.

For 4-1 Skowhegan, Danielle Burke made 10 saves on 25 shots in goal.

The JV teams played to a scoreless tie.
