DEXTER – Senior Brent Cunningham rushed for 145 yards on 20 carries and made 10 tackles from his middle linebacker slot to lead the Dexter Tigers to a 22-6 schoolboy football win over the John Bapst Crusaders Saturday.

Cunningham scored on a 22-yard run in the fourth quarter. Brad Sherwood passed for one touchdown and ran a yard for another score for the Tigers. Mike Wakefield, who caught the 7-yard TD pass, made three catches for 49 yards and had seven tackles and two sacks at defensive end. Defensive back Josh Kimball added 10 tackles and an interception.

Eric Packard scored on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter for the Crusaders of Bangor. Senior nose tackle J.C. Whitt made 17 tackles.

MCI postgrads 39, Springfield 20

At Springfield, Mass., Dave Friedberg completed 12 of 20 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Maine Central Institute postgrads past the Springfield JVs Sunday.

Friedberg completed scoring passes of 79, 6, 47 and 9 yards. Emanuel Compass gathered in two of the tosses, and finished with five catches for 87 yards.

Lamont Ware returned a punt 95 yards for a TD for Springfield.
